Few people get a financial education, and yet, we’re responsible for our own retirements and financial futures. It seems we’re expected to “figure it out” somewhere along the way, but unfortunately, a lot of us make mistakes that have huge negative impacts on our finances. It happened to my father, who lost almost everything over several decades of bad decisions and bad luck. And it happened to me in 2008, during the recession; I made mistakes that were caused by my own lack of knowledge, experience, and education. I was lucky enough to be able to fix those mistakes, and in doing so, I found myself entering the financial industry and becoming a financial advisor.

I attended the University of Texas at Arlington, graduating in 1986 with a Bachelor’s degree in History. During this time, I also served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a pilot, and after leaving the Marines, I worked as a transport pilot for Trans World Airlines and Southwest Airlines. After entering the financial industry, I worked at Investment Advisors Corp for three years and received my Series 7 (General Securities Representative) and 66 (Uniform Investment Adviser - Combined State Laws) Securities Licenses before joining KFA Financial. I am passionate about helping my clients succeed, and I love getting them on the right track to their financial goals.

I grew up in Arlington, Texas, and currently live in Pottsboro, Texas. It’s a beautiful area, close to Lake Texoma, and I love living away from the chaotic pace of the bigger cities. I have been married to my beautiful wife, Kimberly, for 32 years; she is a teacher and reading specialist who loves to help kids find their love of reading. We have two children together, Connor and Brittany; Connor and his wife, Mandi, recently welcomed our first grandchild, Veronica. I am a strong believer in putting family first, and my family is my everything. When I am not spending time with them, I enjoy boating, hunting, and working on old cars and hot rods.
